Since 2014, Awqaf Australia has strived to help our Muslim community re-imagine its future in Australia through the powerful potential of Islam’s model of endowments: the waqf.
Sustainable Awqaf in the Muslim Community
We are a community initiative defined by a vision of sustainability, long-term viability and innovation.
In our years of operation, we have worked closely with Islamic organisations, individuals and stakeholders to create the foundation for a sustainable model for the operation of awqaf in our community.
As an organisation dedicated to supporting our growing Muslim community through the potential of awqaf, we adhere strictly to sound Islamic teachings and juridical tradition and imbue it into our understanding of regulatory endowment frameworks in Australia.
Advancing the Islamic Spirit through Social Enterprises
We initiate and advocate for projects that will uphold and strengthen the Islamic spirit for generations to come in the form of needed social enterprises that serve the community interest. From educational needs to spiritual ones, from individual resources to collective infrastructure, we will serve the community on multiple fronts.
Together, through the power of awqaf, we are charting the course towards a new tomorrow and, in the process, will help build a stronger, more confident Muslim community.

Awqaf Australia’s strategy is based on four pillars that together form a comprehensive framework for the implementation of awqaf (Islamic endowments) as illustrated below:

Our Vision

Inspired by our faith and guided by our values, Awqaf Australia envisages a caring, self-sufficient Muslim community in which individual and collective needs are looked after through sustainable models that help us live up to the Prophetic standard.
Awqaf Australia will mobilise resources, build partnerships, and develop local capacity, working to:

- Utilise our resources to raise money by encouraging people to endow cash, assets and shares to fulfil its activities and initiatives.
- Promote and nurture Islamic endowments, applying best practices in sustainable asset and investment management, aiming to maximise continuous reward for donors and benefit to individual and collective beneficiaries.
- Implement about 70% of our initiatives through well-established organisations via project implementation agreements, while implementing the other 30% in-house.
- Adopt clear selection criteria to select the appropriate organisational partner for each activity. We aim to engage with governments, the UN, fellow Charities, and – most importantly – local communities and other partners who share the same objectives as we do.
